  • Iris Mickey, Director & Co-Founder

    Iris has built a loving, tight yoga community in Madison and through a passion for life-long learning has built a national network of yoga and therapeutic yoga experts.

  • Angela Tolsma, Assistant Director

    Angela Tolsma fell in love with yoga and photography at a time when she needed to reconnect with her body. Throughout the years this passion has grown into the desire to connect others in the same way. In 2022 she took her 200 and 300 hr yoga teacher trainings through Ignite Yoga and Wellness Institute, choosing this school for her training because of it's connection to yoga's roots and focus on inclusivity.

  • Margo Zimmerman, Office Administrator

    Margo completed her 200 hour yoga teaching training with “Breathe For Change” She is a retired classroom teacher, and is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. with a passion on making yoga accessible to all, and incorporating mindfulness, wellness, and social-emotional learning into classrooms.

  • Sarah Dimick, Child and Family Connector

    Sarah has been leading yoga classes for preschoolers through seniors citizens for almost 20 years. Initially certified through Breathe 4 Change, Sarah has continued her yoga education through YogaEd, Indra Yoga Institute, Silver Sneakers Yoga, Rhythmic Movement Training, and is currently completing her certification to be a YogaMedicine Therapeutic Specialist.

  • Tracy Miller

    Tracy Miller works as an Independent Living Specialist with Access to Independence. Access is a disability-led organization that champions justice and empowers people with disabilities of all ages and identities. Tracy has lived experience with both physical and mental health disabilities. She is conversant in American Sign Language and, in 2023, she led an initiative to partner with YAFA in offering yoga classes for members of the hard of hearing and Deaf communities. Tracy is working with YAFA to continue this initiative. Daily yoga practice has had a positive impact on her life. She lives on the east side of Madison.

    Anna Rose is driven by a profound passion for yoga, finding fulfillment in imparting its transformative essence to others. With certifications in 200 RYT and RMTi Level 1, she cherishes the power of human connection and views yoga as a sanctuary for authentic self-expression. Through her teaching, Anna cultivates a vibrant community where individuals can thrive and support one another on their journeys.

  • Jessica Flowers

    Jessica loves to share gentle and accessible yoga practices with individuals in the Madison area through weekly classes taught at Princeton Club and Perennial Yoga. She is excited to expand sharing these practices with YAFA and truly believes in making yoga accessible for all individuals.

    The gift of yoga found Angela when she was seeking healing from trauma. Yoga guided her in reconnecting with her body and aligning with her authentic self.

All of our teachers are YTT certified by Yoga Alliance, which means they’ve been trained in anatomy, physiology, proper asana alignment. They understand that no two bodies are alike and will work with you to adapt poses to support your practice.

Provide accommodations for physical mobility challenges and intellectual challenges through the use of props and language content.

  • Understand safety precautions in relation to range of motion restrictions that students may have.

  • Provide an environment that is trauma sensitive through language content and accommodations.

  • Use inclusive language.

  • Refer students to professional medical practitioners when questions and concerns outside of the scope of practice of yoga teachers arise..
